Frequently asked questions
WHAT IS 'NOTEBOOKS FOR MUMS'?
Notebooks for Mums are journals and organisers to accompany every stage of motherhood because each is new and challenging in its own way. Every Notebook follows a similar format with articles, journal/diary pages, positive affirmations and self care tips. None of the pages are dated, so a mum can dip into them at any point she wishes.
IS THE NEW MUM’S NOTEBOOK ONLY FOR FIRST TIME MUMS?
Definitely not. I believe you’re a new mum no matter what ’round’ you’re on, because each baby is so different. Whilst having practical skills in looking after a previous baby definitely helps, lots of the doubts and worries that come with that first time occur every time you have a baby. You always need to hear you’re doing ok.
WHAT'S BEHIND THE NAME, THE NOT-SO-NEW MUM'S NOTEBOOK?
It's to define that group of mums after the new baby bit; that time between one and five years when they start school. They're still newish at what they're doing. A part of me actually thinks we are always new mums, as we're always navigating a new stage we haven't mastered before.
IS THE SCHOOL MUM'S NOTEBOOK ONLY FOR RECEPTION PARENTS?
Starting school and that first year in reception is a completely unique experience (no matter what child you're on) so The School Mum's Notebook has been written to help mums navigate that particular time. That said, there is a lot in the Notebook to support any primary school mum, with ways to incentivise reading, relatable articles about the school run and World Book Day as well as 39 diary double page spreads to organise her throughout the year.
WHY DO SOME COME FROM AMAZON AND SOME FROM THIS WEBSITE?
After initially self-publishing The New Mum's Notebook, Penguin bought worldwide rights to that and The Not-So-New Mum's Notebook and these are published by them. I have decided to self-publish The School Mum's Notebook and so I will be resuming my daily trips to the post office and sending them out from my living room again. I can't wait (seriously).
I'll keep writing Notebooks as I progress through each stage of motherhood. I love sharing what I wish I'd known. There are plans for The Solo Mum's Notebook, The Masterful Mum's Notebook and The Menopausal Mum's Notebook (although I'm in no rush to write that one!)
